This sermon "Conformed or Transformed" is based on Romans 12:1-2. It comes after the first 11 chapters of Romans that focuses on the human condition, God's provision in Christ and the diffference he makes in the hope for humanity. Chapter 12 and following contains the practical outcomes for people who believe what paul spoke of in the first 11 chapters. He begins Romans 12:1 with the word "therefore". That word implies something that has gone before and that what is about to follow is a natural consequence of what has been said. He challenges the early church to live out it's inheritance; to live as people who are being changed on the inside being transformed and renewed in light of God's mercies for them in Jesus Christ. We're to be inner directed by God's Spirit rather than outer directed by the pressures andfashions of everyday life. (Click here) http://www.seaviewbaptist.com/podcast/20070916.mp3

This week's sermon by Rev. Aiello is titled "God's House Salad" and is based on the text in Hebrews 10:19-25. On 5 occasions the author enourages the Christians to persevere using the phrase "Let us..." (lettuce). Hence the title. Each variation on the "let us" challenge is designed to strengthen the witness and faith of God's people in the face of doubt, confusion, suffering and persecution. Let us drawn near to God in faith; let us hold firmly to the hope, let us spur one another on toward love; let us not give up meeting together and let us encourage one another, make up the "salad." Also, a quote is used to remind the listener that the ears of faith cause him or her to hear the music of the Good News which sets his or her feet in motion and faithfulness. "Those who danced were thought quite insane by those who could not hear the music." This sermon challenges us to "hear the music" of God's love for us in Christ and to keep on dancing.
